From Underground Culture to Collectible Art Books

Soi Books was born from a deep connection to music, the arts, and storytelling. We started in documentary filmmaking and evolved into creating beautifully crafted books that bring subcultures and creative visionaries to life.

Our story began in clubs, filming scratch battles, underground raves, and label showcases. We created EPKs for artists, captured legendary nights at DMZ and Plastic People, and worked with Big Dada Records. We released the first-ever Japanese hip-hop documentaries, followed by Bassweight: A Dubstep Documentary featuring Skream, Benga, Mala, Kode9, and Mary-Anne Hobbs, and Soka Afrika, a raw look at African football and corruption. These films were more than documentaries. They were deep dives into sound, culture, and movement.

From film, we moved into publishing, keeping that same documentary mindset. In collaboration with Laurence King Publishing, we launched the Stickerbomb series with 15 books and nearly half a million copies sold worldwide. Alongside Stickerbomb, we have published books on street art, music culture, and design, always focused on authenticity and visual storytelling.

  • "Soi" is a Thai word meaning alleyway or side street, often where underground culture, art, and music thrive. It reflects our focus on subcultures, creativity, and stories that exist beyond the mainstream plus many years ago we had a gallery in Bangkok, Thailand.

    • The Collector’s Edition takes 3 to 5 months from concept to sales.

    • The Signature Book takes 9 months to 2 years, depending on complexity, content, and production scale.
