Soi Books is an independent publisher focused on visual culture.

We work with artists, photographers, writers, and subcultural voices to produce books, editions, and print objects rooted in real scenes, process, and cultural history. Working remotely between London, Brussels, and Jakarta, we sit between publishing, curation, and contemporary art, turning stories into objects designed to last.

“Soi Books is built on over 20 years of publishing experience across art, photography, and culture.”

Since 2022, we have published a growing list of titles under our own name, while also developing and producing books for other publishers, artists, and institutions. Across both strands, our work spans more than 30 titles, distributed to collectors, retailers, and museums in over 25 countries.

Our catalogue includes limited editions, artist books, visual essays, and large-format works — all designed to sit comfortably in both private collections and public archives.

Alongside our own imprint, we also operate a Publishing Studio, developing books with artists, publishers, and institutions from concept through to final production.

Why “Soi” ?

In Thai, soi means a side street — raw, local, alive. It was also the name of the gallery we first ran in Bangkok.

In French, soi refers to the self — a nod to authorship, identity, and the years we spent in France shaping stories through television and film.

In Vietnamese, soi means thread — something that connects and reveals, echoing the years spent working across Vietnam and the wider ASEAN region.

Three meanings, one approach: ground-level access, clear authorship, and global connection.
